Here’s the latest on the trails-
“Over the past seven days the Pittsburg Ridge Runners trail system has received 18 to 36 inches of new snow depending on elevation.
Groomers have been running day and night trying to get this fluff all packed down so we can start to process it and possibly have some sort of base by the weekend.
Many of you understand but I’m sure a few of you don’t realize that anytime we receive a substantial amount of new snow it takes quite a period of time to compact it and process it into a hard base. We need cold temperatures to freeze it and turn it into a hard trail base again.
Just like last weekend we had received lots of new snow and there was quite a few comments about the trails in varying conditions.
The same goes for this weekend. It doesn’t matter how many groomers are out there trying to keep the trails flat, with all the weekend sled traffic it’s going to get rough.
I’m not trying to be a downer or deter anybody from coming up to ride.
The scenery is absolutely beautiful with all the snow in the trees, the drifts along the trailside and the trail system is completely covered in powder. Beautiful!
So as I’ve said the grommers will be out all weekend and with the forecasted cold temperatures starting Friday and through the weekend, the new snow will start to freeze once it’s all been compacted down into a base.
