The Pittsburg Ridge Runners was founded on February 21, 1966, by 18 local snowmobilers. Ike Brown was elected President; a little bit of history. It’s important that we pause and reflect back on the founders of this Club and be grateful. There were no cell phones or social media; house phones and phone booths were the communication tool. Here we are 58 years later with social media and AI running our communication faster than we can type. Let’s be good and support the sport we all enjoy and post positive.
So here we go with 2025 !! Mother Nature has blanketed us with some early snow across town and larger amounts in the higher elevations. Final groomer preparations are underway – first aid boxes, chainsaws, safety gear, radios and fire extinguishers are all being checked just to name a few things. Tomorrow, Tuesday, we will be sending two groomers up to the northern part of the trail system to groom and clear trails up which will, at a minimum, require cutting and removing trees that have fallen across the trails. For safety reasons there will be two operators per machine.
Wednesday’s weather looks like rain/snow with temps in the 40’s so we will not be out grooming. If the weather cooperates on Thursday we will be out checking and grooming the trails in our southern section along with continued grooming in the north.
The BIG question…when will the trails open? Let’s see what this storm does to us on Wednesday and decisions will be made then. When the trails open we will be excited to post. If no post, then trails remain closed.
Thank you for your patience, but most of all, for supporting the Club. (Club Meeting-Thursday, December 12th @ 6:30)
